Here at Grey Goose Graphics, we build a lot of websites; from the modest yet direct one-page website to the extensive multipage website with all the bells and whistles. Despite the variety of differences, all good websites have a few things in common that you, the client, should prepare for.
As an extension of your brand, a website must say something about you, your company, and the services you provide. Let’s break this down, piece by piece, (or maybe page by page?).
Information included on this page varies, but can include:
- a paragraph or two on the history of your company
- the mission/vision statement of your company
- the sales-pitch, (why people should choose your company over your competitors)
- a section on your employees, or a directory
- if applicable, a section on your facilities or the equipment your company uses
While the about us section will appeal to a consumer’s need to trust a company by getting to know your business, the services section is the meat of your site. After all, your services will be what drives them to do business with your company. Be as thorough as possible when developing this content for your website! List any major offerings, brands, or techniques that make you stand out from your competitors.
A contact page seems like a no-brainer. Our main advice is to include a message form; providing your email address can lead to unwanted spam in your inbox.
Additional options to consider:
- embedded Google map(s)
- hours of operation
- fax number
- phone number directory
- employment opportunities
Every client has unique needs for a website, and we love to find solutions that work for you. To discuss what else should be included to make your website great, give us a call!
